Did you know that there are all these really helpful tools on lds.org for reading the scriptures? I did not, but I am VERY excited about them! There is a section for seminary students studying the scriptures and the tools that they can use. I for one, still need some of these more simple references to help me when I'm reading the scriptures.
Did you know that they even have the actual scriptures online that you can read??? Now there is really no excuse for not reading the scriptures, even when you don't have your scriptures! What an inspired idea! The brethren sure know what they are doing!
In preparing for conference, I've found a new strength of motivation to be better at reading the scriptures on a daily basis. In the Book of Mormon and repeatedly in conference and other meetings we are told to "feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do" (2 Nephi 32:3). We all need inspiration in our lives for different things and at different times. We should be reading the scriptures and staying close to our Heavenly Father, even in good times, so that in times when we need him most, we don't have so far to go.
We [Ryan & I] started again this morning reading the scriptures before he left for work. Hopefully we can keep it up and get back on track. I notice a big difference in our relationship when we are doing the things we have been counseled by our leaders to do.
I'm grateful to my mother-in-law and her FHE lesson last night that inspired me to do better at these things.
